Sarawak’s Lost Worlds

4 or 5 nights

'Lost Worlds' will take you to two of Sarawak's best kept secrets on your own Jurassic Park adventure. Forgotten hidden caves deep in the forest and towering waterfalls await, unforgettable! Given the extra expense of 4 x 4 to/from waterfall it is best to visit in a small group.

Alternative option is to trek to/from airport to waterfall, min 2 nights camping in forest - ask for more details

Departs Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday (4 - 5 days +)

     Day 1

Fly from Miri to either Long Banga or Long Akah arports, here you will meet your guide and transfer 90 mins to begin 1 hour trek to village, rest of the day free to swim and relax and plan day two. Dinner with your host family.

    Day 2

Early wake up for breakfast and then start 3 hour trek to camp by river deep in the forest, with luck you will spot hornbills in the giant trees above you. Set up camp, time to learn more about the forest, swim and then dinner. Optional night walk to spot for wildlife.

Day 3

After breakfast, pack up and begin to steep climb to cave chambers, this a long hot morning, main bags can be left on trail. Take plenty of water and snacks. These hidden caves are almost unknown to the outside world and are a magical sight with endless views over the rainforest canopy below.

When ready leave caves and follow alternatve trail back to the village - this is an all day trek and requires good fitness and stamina. 

Dinner with host family, early to sleep.


After breakfast pack up and say goodbye to village leaving either by boat or foot depending on river levels, back to access road. Here 4 x 4 will be waiting to send you two hours to next village located down a remote forested valley.

After meeting host famly and local guide begin the 4 hour return trek to the outstanding hidden waterfalls, potentially the 2nd largest in Sarawak. Even in the dry season they are a remarkable sight and with care it is possible to get close to the base, in the rainy season the water volume is such that it must be enjoyed from a distance.

After a refreshing swim and lunch back to the village for dinner and rest.


Early departure from village to reach required airport for flight back to Miri. Or extend and trek 3 days to Long Lellang ariport.

Never give money to children or anyone in the village unless it is part of gratuities or tips. Instead, consider supporting in sustainable ways by supporting programs and projects by the community or NGOs that work with them.

Consider your action before taking plastic bags and excess packaging and plastic with you. There are no recycling facilities in rural areas and most of the time plastic bags and rubbish end up in the rivers.
